Here’s a simple recipe for Fried Idli

Ingredients:

1.Leftover idlis (you can use fresh ones too)
2.2 tablespoons oil
3.1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
4.1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
5.1/2 teaspoon urad dal (split black gram)
6.A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
7.1 small onion, finely chopped
8.1 small tomato, finely chopped
9.1/2 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
10.1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
11.1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
12.Salt to taste
13.Chopped coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions:

1.Cut the leftover idlis into bite-sized pieces. If you are using fresh idlis, allow them to cool and firm up a bit before cutting.
2.Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and urad dal. Let them splutter.
3.Add a pinch of asafoetida (hing) for flavor.
4.Add finely chopped onions and sauté until they become translucent.
5.Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute until the raw smell disappears.
6.Add finely chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft.
7.Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt to taste. Mix well.
8.Add the cut idli pieces to the pan and gently toss them with the masala until the idlis are well coated.
9.Cook for a few minutes until the idlis are heated through and get a slightly crispy texture on the edges.
10.Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
