Babar Azam, during a live session on Twitter, declared his preference for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) over the Indian Premier League (IPL) as the premier T20 league globally. In response to a question about the best T20 league, the former Pakistan captain unequivocally selected PSL. Babar also shared his ultimate dream of being a part of a World Cup-winning team.
Recognizing the pivotal role played by former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed in his career, Babar praised Sarfaraz for supporting him in the early stages. Babar attributed his presence in the Pakistan team to Sarfaraz’s encouragement and recalled how Sarfaraz consistently favored his choice of bats during matches.
Despite facing challenges in the past year, Babar Azam has recently regained form. After a challenging period following the ODI World Cup, where he had to step down as captain, and a tough Test series against Australia and T20I series against New Zealand, Babar expressed dissatisfaction with his current performance. While performing well for Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), scoring 157 runs in four matches, Babar remains ambitious and seeks further milestones.
Babar Azam emphasized his continuous learning from failures, especially in the face of quality spinners in the BPL. He highlighted the need to adapt his game to different conditions, emphasizing the contrast between New Zealand and Bangladesh. Babar stressed his approach of building partnerships and acknowledged the importance of balancing youth and experience in T20 cricket for sustained success.
