Analyzing Tata's January 2024 Sales: Nexon, Punch, Harrier, Tiago

In January 2023, Tata achieved sales of 53,635 units, reflecting an 11.8% year-on-year growth compared to the nearly 48,000 units sold the previous year. Despite this increase, Tata Motors maintained its position as the third-highest selling manufacturer in India, trailing behind Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai. In January 2024, Tata remained in the third spot with 53,635 units sold, maintaining a gap of approximately 3,000-3,500 units behind Hyundai. Tata’s market share slightly decreased from 13.9% to 13.6% compared to the same period last year.

The recent launches of updated versions of Nexon, Harrier, and Safari, as well as new models like the Punch EV and CNG variants, have expanded Tata’s product lineup and kept it competitive. In January 2024, the Punch emerged as the top-selling model with 17,978 units sold, representing an impressive 50% year-on-year sales growth. The Nexon followed closely with 17,182 units sold, marking a 10% year-on-year increase. However, the Tiago experienced a decline in sales with 6,482 units sold, down 28% from the previous year, while the Tigor recorded 1,539 units, reflecting a 50% decrease in sales. Both models recently introduced AMT CNG versions.

The Altroz secured the fourth position with 4,935 units sold, showing a 13% decrease from January 2023. The Safari and Harrier ranked fifth and sixth, with 2,893 units and 2,626 units respectively. The Safari saw a significant year-on-year growth of 180%, while the Harrier recorded a 67% increase in sales.
