It is a requirement for payment of road tax in Jharkhand. It is a once-off payment and is payable either each year or quarterly. The owner of the vehicle may pay the road tax when they are ready to have their vehicle registered at the appropriate zonal Regional Transport Office (RTO).
Jharkhand RTO charges up to 6 per cent of the vehicle cost (excluding GST) as road tax. Road tax must be paid in order that the state can keep and improve the quality of roads.
